Bandar Seri Begawan (Brunei) - A Japanese Koi measuring 76cm owned by Paul Koh emerged as grand champion in the 1st Japanese Koi competition held at Sykt Biotropical Fish Shop, Kg Bunut yesterday.
With the theme "Living Jewel Show 2006," the event received an overwhelming response, attracting large crowds of spectators and the participation of 20 Japanese Koi keepers who showcased some 200 Japanese Koi of various species.
The competition was organised by a group of Japanese Koi lovers to promote the hobby of rearing the fish and foster closer ties among them.
The competition also provided an opportunity for the Japanese Koi keepers to share their views and experiences on looking after the fish.
. . . Mr Vincent Wong said the judging was based on three important elements that included the quality of fish scales, body shape and colourful design on the body. ,
The organisers are looking forward to holding the competition as an annual event to promote the hobby of rearing Japanese Koi . . . more
