Asimo says "Look ma, no hands" before taking a dive

Postby Neo-Rio » Tue Dec 12, 2006 11:09 am

It's a "funniest home videos" moment. Serves him right for showboating to the audience.

Laugh now, but in 10 years a large part of the otaku population here and abroad will be having sex with Asimo's descendants.

And then, on Day Zero, Asimo Jr. will INITIATE the sexual interaction.

:D He wasn't looking where he was going! What did they expect? I like the quick cleanup; byoubu comes out, 'Honda' logo turns off, lights go down.. Good stuff..

Honda and Mitsubishi have something in common after all. They have a major screw up and the guy comes in to cover it up. Classic. This is the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

Natural reaction in the crowd seems to be to laugh... For some wierd reason it kinda disturbs me, not like full blown disturb but partial disturb.

Also, surely if it happens that often they would consider covering the guy in springs or something...or at least make his face less smashable and give him a stack hat. Wonder how much it costs every time he takes a dive.

Anti-Chrysanthemum activity by Chink and Kimchi is started as usual.

[quote="gboothe"]Could you possibly translate everything before 特]

Okay, I'll give it a shot. No guarantees. "Chinese and Korean netizens will doubtless regard this video as a metaphor for the collapse of Japan's technological lead over other manufacturing-based economies. Honda's odd, overcompensating damage-control reaction, including hurredly placing a screen in front of Asimo, will only increase this perception: Japan, Inc, has fallen, and it can't get up. In fact, this video is just TOO perfect; I wouldn't be surprised if some damn Chinese or Korean cooked it up."

Mmmm. I still prefer the drunken salaryman metaphor. And it is so much more in tune with the season.:-D

Ol' Earl Kinmonth over at NBR makes an observation about robots that I hadn't considered:

"And, in a more abstract vein, I've long wondered whether an enthusiasm for
humanoid robots (whether this enthusiasm is Japanese or otherwise) might
reflect latent fascist tendencies - the desire for the ultimate follower
and true believer of the party line."

http://www.nbr.org/foraui/Message.aspx?LID=5&MID=26542

Heh. A nation of robots won't need "educational reform". Okurasho and Jiminto will be able to say "Drink that Kool-Aid!", and the robots will respond, "Yes, SIR! But we don't have a urinary orifices, SIR!"
