Mainichi: Childcare facilities across Japan complain of overcrowding
Childcare facilities across Japan are complaining over being forced to accept children under prefectural regulations even though they are already running at capacity...Altogether there are 558 childcare facilities in Japan, providing care for about 30,000. A Mainichi survey of prefectures and major cities found that since 2000, facilities in five prefectures have continued to accept children despite operating beyond their designated capacities..."There are times when children who have been subjected to violence from a young age and then abandoned are unable to convey their feelings and panic. We want to give each child the best treatment, but there aren't enough workers," [an] institution's director said.
