Yomiuri: 'Bizarre' MSDF ad targets young recruits
The Maritime Self-Defense Force has produced a commercial spoofing a long-running Japanese superhero show in an attempt to attract a new generation of future sailors. In the 30-second commercial, five actors playing MSDF officers appear one by one alongside images of military equipment such as an escort vessel and a patrol aircraft. The voice actor who narrates the "Sentai Series" action show is then heard shouting in the style of the show: "Our mission has no end. Go! The Maritime Self-Defense Force!" Top officials were momentarily speechless when they saw the ad for the first time at a board meeting...The ad was made at a cost of about 3.5 million yen based on an idea chosen from 10 that included pitches from advertising firms and film companies. Anyone else seen this joke of a commercial for the Japanese Naval Self Defense Forces? What a joke. Apparently they want to attract young people with this commercial. Perhaps the ministry of defense officials what to attract more minors to have sex with like Maj. Hidehito Tsutsui who has been arrested for having sex with a 15 year old girl.
