Yahoo! News, Reuters - Wed May 9, 6:40 AM ET

An audience listens to a violin concert on beds as they eat ice-cream during the "Dolce Heavenly Concert" event in Tokyo May 9, 2007... to mark Japan's Ice-Cream Day....

i guess the people in the same bed knew each other before, right?

Ice cream day

Postby canman » Thu May 10, 2007 10:37 am

Why in god's name do they need to name every friggin' day here. If its not repect the elderly its ear cheching day,(March 3rd).
For some reason that picture made me think of Romans lying and eating on their sofas since they were too lazy to sit up. Talk about the end of civilization. Well maybe that is too strong a statement, but it looks pretty fucking stupid.

Hey, Ice-cream is extremely worthy of having a holiday. As for the Roman comparison, rich people have been doing silly things for the entire history of rich people.

Yeah, rather than the return of the bubble, I think its got more to do with the global phenomenon of the 'haves' starting to have a lot more.
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

It's just the same association that brought us Tom Cruise Day. A quick check on their site reveals that today is cotton day.

That scene reminds me of a book by C.J.Cherryh.

Nothing wrong with that. I would love to be in that "have a lot more group", which would then qualify me to sit around and compassionately say "look at those poor have-nots, ain't it a shame", while I refill my brandy sniffer!
