The male figure of Ezaki Glico Co.'s well-known neon lighting, the symbol of Osaka's Dotombori street, will change his wear: donning off his familiar running shirt and putting on the uniform of Japanese athletes competing in the 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics...Ezaki agreed on the wear change in cooperation with Mizuno Corp., the sporting goods firm that offers the uniform for the Japanese team. The Glico neon sign figure will wear the Mizuno uniform from June 25 to Sept. 2 when the world athletic meet closes. This will be the third time the figure of the Glico neon signboard, set up in 1935, changes his wear. He wore the uniform of the Japanese team for the World Cup soccer competition held in Japan and South Korea in 2002, and donned the uniform of the Hanshin Tigers when the Osaka-based professional baseball club was close to winning the Central League pennant in 2003.
