AMAGASAKI, Hyogo -- Prosecutors have indicted a man for property damage after he set fire to ivy covering the wall of the Hanshin Koshien Stadium.

The Amagasaki branch of the Kobe District Public Prosecutors Office accuse Toshio Deguchi, 43, a resident of the Higashi-Naruo district of Nishinomiya, of using a cigarette lighter to set fire to a magazine and some fallen leaves near the outer wall of the Koshien Stadium in Nishinomiya on the morning of June 3. The fire burned several ivies on the wall.

The stadium is famous for its ivy, and prosecutors estimated the damage caused by the fire at 40,000 yen.
