A man hunt is under way in Yokosuka for a Black guy suspected of stabbing two women this morning.

Seems like they just caught the guy.
The Mainichi reports it was a serviceman they were looking for.

"He came to my apartment for the first time yesterday. While the three of us were talking, the discussion got out of hand, and the guy started swinging a knife around," she was quoted as saying.

What they hell kind of conversation prompts a man to pull a knife and start slashing?

What? Just because you're black, you start profiling people like that? It could have been a random Africkan from Nigeria as far as I'm concerned, but I guess they caught the serviceman.

AO can weigh in on this.

They need to start banning knives and make it completely illegal to sell.

The obvious text book answer is that one is too many, but if I had to guess, I would say that the figure is very, very low.

Since the press coverage of any gaijin related murder or death where the gaijin is the perp is a media feeding frenzy, we would surely know if the figures were unusually high. This does not of course apply if the gaijin is a victim unless in the event where the police and J-media is exposed to external pressure as in such as cases like Lucy Blackman et al.

Very few killings but many stabbings.
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

I am only asking because it's ironic I am doing research for a project that slightly touches upon violence committed by gaijin against Japanese. (IE rapes or domestic abuse.....) I am sure the numbers a low but I need to find out more....

it would be great if anyone could tell me where I could dig up info where I can get statistics or help link me to any noteworthy articles in the past.

You might want to take a look at Debito's web site and his commentaries on this topic being mis-stated and mis-used by politicians in Japan. Might give you some interesting leads.

Ah, the source of the gaijin YBF crime wave! That confession alone must have driven up the percentage of YBF stabbings by several points.

Hey Bird, I ain't gonna come clean on all of them. There were a couple so bad that when I tried to make my getaway out the back window, the husband was on the outside holding the window shut!
