Kyodo: Enhanced domestic violence law enacted
The revised domestic violence prevention law was enacted Thursday, expanding the scope of actions subject to restraining orders by courts to include silent phone calls and other forms of harassment. Other acts covered by the revised law, to take effect in mid-January, include phone calls, faxes and e-mail messages between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., except for those of an emergency or urgent nature, and persistent, continuous calls, faxes and e-mail.
