Huge Osaka Drugs Bust

IHT: Japanese police arrest 4 Chinese in massive drug case
Authorities in western Japan have arrested four Chinese men who had allegedly smuggled and possessed more illegal drugs than were seized in the entire country last year, a news report said Monday. Osaka police and custom officials arrested the four men and seized about 150 kilograms of stimulants, 280 kilograms of marijuana and 680,000 tablets of Ecstasy, formally known as MDMA, Kyodo News agency reported. It did not say where it got the information. The amount of each drug was larger than last year's total seizures nationwide, Kyodo said. Police officials could not immediately confirm the report. The drugs were hidden in lumber in containers that came from Canada and arrived at a port in Osaka. If convicted, the four could face up to life in prison and a fine of 10 million yen.

After the appropriate jail time of course. And while in jail, they will probably have the screws put to them to give up their cohorts.

There are so many Chinese in Canada and none of them are criminals. They are all hardworking and enterprising. Many of them are tax cheats but no major crime to speak of. I only have high regards for the Chinese in Canada.

By the way AO, I read somewhere that some Chinese rather be in prison in Japan than be free in China because they say life in Japanese prisons is much better than normal life in the countryside of China.

Can't. The Artic already belongs to Al Gore. He has a ranch there that he uses for his research project on how to best drown Polar Bears for fun and profit.

They have newspapers in Canada, right? News programs, too, as I recall. I had some hope, but Jack dashed it. Personally, I'd like to see Canada go to war with someone (not Quebec, when it finally secedes).:hehe:

well denmark is joining the fray. i think we could possibly take denmark but would likely sustain heavy casualties.

Excellent choice. Too bad politics killed it, being better than the best than anything the US could build at that time and all that... then again, a lot of Avro Canada engineers went on to work for NASA where they did things like put American airframe operators on the moon and such. The engines were also Canadian designed and made... look for "Orenda Iroquois". T'was an interesting time... the British TSR-2 met a similar fate under American pressure.

Are you referring to the above or to the statement that with great wit you responded to with a mighty "Huh"?

i've read a fair bit both about the building and subsequent scrapping of the arrow. all interesting stuff.

there are currently two projects underway - a 2/3 scale replica that is scheduled to be flown for the 50th anniversary of the arrow's inaugural flight and a full size static replica. now personally i know what i'd like to see..

Rebuilding the Arrow

i'll have to read up on the tsr-2.
