Gaman Rider

Postby Mulboyne » Tue Aug 14, 2007 7:48 pm

ZAKZAK (Japanese) reports that a 54 year old company employee was injured on a motorcycle trip with a group of friends near Hamamatsu in Shizuoka. While taking a left hand curve, the man ran up against the highway's central barrier and the contact severed his right leg below the knee. He did not fall off his bike, however, and, although in severe pain, did not actually notice that his leg was missing. He continued to ride for a further 2 kilometres before realizing what had happened. Other news reports say that one of the group returned to pick up the limb and took it to the hospital but it was too badly damaged to be reattached.

Japanese biker fails to notice missing leg

Postby Iraira » Wed Aug 15, 2007 7:33 am

TOKYO, Japan (Reuters) -- A Japanese biker failed to notice his leg had been severed below the knee when he hit a safety barrier, and rode on for 2 km (1.2 miles), leaving a friend to pick up the missing limb.

The 54-year-old office worker was out on his motorcycle with a group of friends in the city of Hamamatsu, west of Tokyo, on Monday, when he was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and bumped into the central barrier, the Mainichi Shimbun said.

He felt excruciating pain, but did not notice that his right leg was missing until he stopped at the next junction, the paper quoted local police as saying.

The man and his leg were taken to hospital, but the limb had been crushed in the collision, the paper said.

Well that would really suck, losing both legs.

He felt excruciating pain, but did not notice that his right leg was missing..
