Tokyo arrived very late to the boutique hotel craze. The city's first taste of linen sheets, colorful bed skirts, lightly-toned wood headboards, fancily upholstered recliners, ergo chairs, and work desks - all necessary for a true boutique hotel - appeared at Klaska in Meguro, the Grandbell Hotel Shibuya, and the Ishin group's "b" series, as typified by their hotels in Roppongi, Akasaka, and Sangenjaya.
And it would seem that the love hotel biz is now catching on - at least, they are picking up on the buzzword. Sleaze guide Pokepara ("pocket paradise" by Creators Company Connection) now has a section dedicated to "boutique love hotels."
