MDN-Mainichi, 2007 Nov 14; SASKAI -- Four hospital workers abandoned a blind patient with diabetes at an Osaka park in September after his former wife refused to take him in, hospital and local government officials said. Officials at Shinkanaoka Toyokawa Sogo Hospital in Kita-ku, Sakai, admitted to the allegations, but denied that the hospital was involved in the incident as an entity. I was almost ready to shed a tear at Man's Inhumanity to Man when I came to the final paragraph:

"During his hospitalization, his violent behavior such as destroying equipment and using abusive language at nurses caused trouble to hospital workers, the officials said."

The story would've been perfect for a Night Gallery vignette: blind and dumped at an abandoned amusement park (of which Japan has so many you could see them from space if they were all put together), hounded by the shrieks and cackles of the ghosts of carnies, takoyaki vendors, and deformed freaks.
