If they'd just tried a bit harder they could've been #7! Oh well, maybe next year.

Anyone know exactly where Hekinan is in Aichi? It seems like a large and fairly inefficient coal plant. I'm surprised Japan's still using older coal plants.

Here's the worst coal plant in the US: (Georgia)

Tons CO2 MWh Energy Intensity
2000: 25,300,000 23,300,000 2,179

It's in lovely Southern Aichi, not far from Okazaki City, home of Tokugawa Ieyasu.

I found some very interesting statistics on which countries are the worst CO2 emitters on a per capita basis. But under current FG Moderator Zero Tolerance rules, I am prohibited from explicitly saying anything about it (suffice to say that yes, they are on the list). You can find the information yourself on sites like BBC Online, etc.
I thought the data was especially interesting as the US seems to be doing a rather good job of controlling CO2 emissions when viewed from the per-capita basis. But the statistics can be distorted, as in the case of China, which is a massive CO2 emitter but the per capita is diluted heavily by huge populations in undeveloped areas that emit less.

Would you be meaning the wonderful world of Oz? Yes on a per capita basis our record is pretty poor and must improve, but we use the same arguments as the U.S.A. and can corrupt the statistics to prove our points as good as any, so you are worse than us, given any value of "You" for any value of "Us"! Playing the blame game is like the fun definition of masterbation, it's meaning is "Fucking nothing" Improve your CO2 emissions whoever you are, where ever you are, and stop pointing fingers at everybody else and calling yourself 'green aware".

You obviously didn't read the list, we're ALL on it ("all" meaning every country with a developed industrial infrastructure). My point being, measuring on a per capita basis shows how each country can take different approaches to CO2 abatement. China scares me the most, if they brought industrialization to 100% of the population, they would probably exceed the entire rest of the world's emissions. In the US, industrialization is widespread so the only approach is to work to reduce everyone's CO2 emissions.
As for me personally, I do everything possible to be green, I can only be responsible for myself.

Let me think here.. does it start with an "A" and ends with an "a" also? Hmm.. America? Asia? Albania? Austria? Damnit, I know I'm getting close here... :p

Yes I did read the list, I just hate the spin that is given to justify a listing.
As for the second comment, a job well done, that was what I meant, do YOUR part with everyone else doing the same and we will defeat the problem.
EASY FIX!

Well, that is part of the problem. For example, I do my best to conserve gas and take mass transit whenever possible, and all my carbon savings get used up by the assholes who bought Hummers and other big SUVs. Sometimes it seems futile. But I'll still keep at it, and I won't be the one bitching the most when gasoline goes up to $5 and it costs $200 to fill the tank of a Hummer.

If they came out with a hybrid Hummer, I might consider buying one!
