CHIBA -- A self-employed man has been indicted for attempting to smuggle marijuana by putting the drugs in more than 100 separate bags and swallowing them, law enforcers said.

Yutaka Arai, 36, a resident of Hachioji, western Tokyo, stands accused of violating the Cannabis Control Law.

Arai put 297.31 grams of marijuana, with a street value of 2.35 million yen, into 120 small bags and swallowed them before arriving at Narita Airport from Bangkok International Airport on Dec. 8 in an unsuccessful bid to smuggle them into Japan, prosecutors said.

1. He got nervous in front of the customs officer.

or

2. Someone sold him out.

The most successful mules would be people who figuratively have ice water running through their veins, but usually people with that kind of attribute seldom sign up for the job. Most mules are decoys anyway, as the most profitable route for narcotics has traditionally been via cargo.

Yeah, I think they call overdosing on weed without dying "whoa I got really wasted duuude." Overdosing implies some sort of adverse medical side-effect, like death. But pot has the highest ratio of effective dose to fatal dose of any recreational drug, it is impossible to ingest or smoke enough to kill yourself. It's just not concentrated enough, even in hash. Your lungs would spasm til you couldn't smoke, or you'd puke before you could eat enough. I've seen medical and scientific studies for years that assert this, it's pretty well known.

Alcohol, on the other hand, has a very low ratio between effective dose and a fatal dose. It is very common for people to drink a fatal dose of liquor without realizing they've gone too far.
