Yomiuri: 7 hurt after car crashes into Shibuya coffee shop
A passenger car crashed into a coffee shop in Shibuya, Tokyo, on Friday night after it collided with a taxi, injuring seven people, including passengers of the cars and customers in the shop, according to the police. Four passengers in the car, including two children, a passenger in the taxi and two customers in the shop suffered minor injuries in the accident. According to the police, the car collided with the taxi, which was turning right at an intersection on National Highway Route 246 at about 9:05 p.m., causing the car to run onto a sidewalk and crash into the steel frame housing the glass walls of the coffee shop, a Caffe Veloce outlet. The car did not enter the shop as it stopped after hitting the steel frame. However, the glass walls were smashed, and a counter was damaged in the crash, resulting in two customers suffering injuries to their knees and hands. The accident occurred about 400 meters east of JR Shibuya Station. The police were investigating the cause of the accident.
The coffee shop is where Miyamasuzaka meets Aoyama Dori. On the other side of the road, you can find nearby a Kua'Aina Burger and, a bit further away, The Pink Cow.
