The Idubor Case

Postby amdg » Thu Jan 31, 2008 3:39 pm

Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

What it boils down to is that as a foreigner, especially a black African foreigner, his testimony does not count in a Japanese court because of the racist apartheid here. There is not a single gram of physical evident that any crime has occurred, much less that he was involved. Just the testimony of one Japanese person, which overrides the "worthless" testimony of one foreigner person.

Personally I think that Japanese pets (dogs, cats, etc.) are entitled to more human rights in Japan than hard working, law abiding, human foreigners are.

This and the taxis incident scares the **** out of me, and is a key reason why I want to relocate from Japan to another country where legal foreigners can at least get some basic human rights and equality.

Again, I still don't understand WHY JAPAN CLAIMS THEY WANT FOREIGNERS AND THEN TRYS TO FORCE THEM OUT BY TREATING THEM LIKE DIRT AND DENYING BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS? Why does Japan have foreign tourist offices and JETRO offices which encourage unwelcomed foreigners to come? Why does Japan still issue long term and permanent visas to new foreigners?

At least in the old days, Japan closed it borders to keep out foreigners. It is a much better solution that what they have now since it prevents new people overseas from coming over and being victimized in Japan.

The handwritten letters are on the page as clickable thumbnails. There's a good few hours of reading there and I recommend you take the time to read them all. The last page seems to end abruptly without completion so I guess there are more to come. I know he is only allowed to write a few pages per day/week.

Someone should really try to get in contact with the "white guy" F is currently dating and give him the heads up - I wonder if he even knows about what happened. I have her name (saved from the failure to properly redact the verdict) if anyone is interested, but won't post it here.

Man, this sounds like an excellent read. Thanks for posting it. It's a shame I'm already half-way into my Thursday night binge drinking.

i really hope this guy gets true justice and is vindicated, but it just seems unlikely. japan has what amounts to little more than a kangaroo court. i hate to sound jaded and painting everyone with the same brush, but at times i wish this country would grow the fuck up already.

YuYu Support Fund wrote:On January 22, 2007, OSAYUWAMEN IDUBOR, a Nigerian national and owner of a cafe/bar in Yokohama, was arrested by police.

He was formally charged on February 9, 2007, of raping
a Japanese woman in the early morning hours of November 1, 2006.

He had been held since arrest in the Kagamachi Police Station awaiting trial, and on May 11th 2007, he was transferred to the Yokohama Detention Center (kouchi shisho) .

Then he was transferred to Tokyo in early March 2008.

His lawyer, Mr Tsurusaki of Yokohama, petitioned for his release on May 21, 2007, but was refused by the court.

(Mr. Idubor could be recognized from TBS TV show "Koko Ga Hen Dayo Nihonjin" which aired some time ago)

There is no material evidence to justify holding him in police custody. Nevertheless, since the foreigners in Japanese criminal cases are considered more of a flight risk than Japanese, he remained in custody until August 2010.

== THE LATEST NEWS (2010.12.7) ==

He is finally free. I got a call from the Tokyo Immigration Bureau yesterday and they told me that he would be released as soon as I pay bond and come to pick him up. So I went there today, hours of waiting, but I brought him home.

He is still having health issues, so we have to take care of him. He was under arrest or detained for almost 4 years...

Thank you very much for your support. We still have lots to work on and sort out, but his future looks good at this point.

Only one thing now needs to be done. For Idubor to be finally released from jail, he needs you to make a temporary deposit of US$250,000 into his account as a handling fee for the cancellation of an account for which he has been acting as a trustee, and which contains US$250 billion. In return for your assistance, Idubor will repay you 10% of the contents of the account as soon as he has cancelled it.

Hair, I'm on the run to the bank right now. Was that an Ethiopian account or a Nigerian account that I'm suppose to transfer the money to?
