[floatr]Image[/floatr]Yomiuri: Yamanaka on Time's influential 100 list
Kyoto University Prof. Shinya Yamanaka and contemporary artist Takashi Murakami are listed in this year's "The Time 100," an annual list complied by U.S. magazine Time of the world's most influential people of the year...Yamanaka is the first person to have found a way to turn human adult skin into induced pluripotent stem cells. Among the Leaders and Revolutionaries category, are U.S. Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, who are Democratic presidential candidates, and Republican John McCain. The same category also lists exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama and Chinese President Hu Jintao, who have been the subject of international attention over China's alleged human rights violations in Tibet ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, which start in August. Meanwhile, in an online poll conducted by the magazine's Web site, Shigeru Miyamoto, an executive managing director at Nintendo Co. who is known as a game designer, topped the list, gaining 1.7 million of the total 8.8 million votes cast.

I am so, so, so tired of the sham "art" that Murakami markets.
