The Asahi reports that drinks maker Hata Kosen, the nation's largest producer of lamune, is trying to stimulate sales of the soft drink by introducing limited edition flavours. Pictured below are takoyaki lamune and kimchi lamune but the article also mentions wasabi, red shiso and other local specialties. Not all of these taste particularly good, apparently, but they are proving popular as souvenirs, serving the same market established by Hokkaido's unappetizing caramels.
