Korean Singer Takes Dokdo/Takeshima Dispute To NYT

Postby Mulboyne » Thu Jul 10, 2008 7:29 pm

[floatr]Image[/floatr]Korea Times: Popular Singer Finances Dokdo Promotion Ad in NYT
A popular Korean singer financed a full-page advertisement on Dokdo ㅡ two tiny islets in the Ease Sea ㅡ in The New York Times to reaffirm the islets are a part of Korean territory. The vocalist Kim Jang-hoon, 41, teamed up with a freelance Korean public relations expert Seo Kyoung-duk to publish the ad in the major American newspaper. The advertisement, published on July 9 with the headline of "Do You Know?," stated "For the last 2,000 years, the body of water between Korean and Japan has been called the 'East Sea.' Dokdo (two islands) located in the East Sea is a part of Korean territory. The Japanese government must acknowledge this fact." It also asked for cooperation between the two governments to pass down accurate facts of history to the next generation and realize peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia..."The advertisement is an act of civilian diplomacy," Yonhap News quoted Kim as saying. "Civilians' unified move against U.S. beef imports made Seoul and Washington sit at a renegotiation table. I think our collective move, embodied in the ad campaign, will be a steppingstone to globally inform people that Dokdo belongs to Korea." Seo plans to publish similar ads in other influential newspapers next year to commemorate Korean Independence Day, which falls on Aug. 15. "With support from Mr. Kim, Internet users and overseas Koreans, I will constantly do the ad campaign," Seo said...more...

Whatever Kimchi dudes hysterically groundressly cry like comfort women, Takeshima belongs to Japan. But now Kimchese are ruling it substantially. If this situation continue in another half century, Kimchese will get it.

Maybe publicity stunt, maybe not.
But both Korea and Japan have told so many lies brought out so many dodgy documents - who knows who was there first.
They'll end up spending more many than the island's worth to get it back.

Both countries are acting like f**king children.
I broke a mirror this morning, which means I should be getting 7 years of bad luck - but my lawyer says he can get me 5.

When did Japan officially tell a lie about Takeshima issue? Huh?
I guarantee your brain has serious problem.

Yea, true but, booooy do they have tasty fish regardless who the island belongs to. When I go to Korea when I'm with my friends, it's Dokdo, when I'm with my Japanese friends it's Takeshima, like little kids, I always agree with them to put a smile on their face, so that I don't have to endure listening how the one side screwed over the other side.
Besides, Korea is not the only country that Japan has this dispute with, if my memory serves me well, I heard Japan has island disputes with Taiwan and Russia also.
The plot thickens!(But the fish is great!)8)

True, Takechan, but you really have to ask.. "what good is Takeshima to Japan?" I bet there is nothing there economically and tourism wise and it is costing Japan more as part of it. If the locals want to be part of the Kimchee land, then so be it nida.

It's like the coral island on stilts! Extension of territorial waters and as such pretty important!

Japan "officially" has never lied about anything. They always tell the truth.
In "official" Japanese documents emperors like Taisho were of sound body and mind...
It's the same as Korea's "official" maps. Officially these recreated maps are genuine.

Originally these territory disputes are wedges casted into by Uncle Sam between Japan and those countries to isolate Japan politically in Northeast asia. So if Sam go home, these disputes will be solved. I am sure.

Yup, the Russians take Hokkaido. Taiwan gets everything south of Okinawa that the Chinese don't want and Korea gets Takeshima. Everything settled, unless Okinawa claims independence as the Ryukyu Kingdom again.

Kimchese never try watching evidences. They just pile up established facts.
This Kimchi method is always used in every single issues from comfort women, Takeshima to recent BSE cow with U.S.
We need evidence, not established fact.

Seem to remember that the J-peeps had a cow (bad pun) about BSE in the US, but then the next problem happened, and BSE was forgotten about.

Japan had its own BSE scare, too. McDonald's was proudly proclaiming it was using Aussie beef at that time.
