Asahi: Slugs part of reason for recall
Daikin Industries Ltd. announced a recall Tuesday of 29 models of air conditioners manufactured from 1994 to 1996. The recall involves 298,000 units. The Osaka-based company said 11 of the models had caught fire or emitted smoke from their outdoor units as of last September. In 10 of the 11 cases, the trouble was likely caused by garden slugs or dust sneaking inside. No injuries were reported in the 11 cases, they added.
