Self-styled god of ancient Japan collared for extorting owner of squat

GUNMA -- A man claiming to be the god of a religious group has been arrested for extortion, after threatening the owner of the house he'd squatted in for over two years.
Kazuo Waki, 44, a counselor of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of attempted extortion on Wednesday. Police say that on Feb. 12, he demanded 100 million yen in "counseling fees" from a 67-year-old woman while staying at her home...more...
