I disagree--for Japan, I'd say that's pretty impressive. Normally, we'd be hearing that the hospital screwed up when the child was in her mid-teens.

The truly sad thing is that in vitro fertilization is only successful roughly 35% of the time.

Saw the report on the news last night. Both 'properly labeled' petri dishes were put on the same table. I guess the common procedure, though, is to label lids only. Someone put the wrong lid on the wrong base..

On the news, the mistake seemed to be attributed to a staff member 'working alone'; 'Working alone is dangerous.'.. Someone needs to reevaluate the processes at that hospital, because my piss is handled better at the annual checkups.

I'm not about to delve into the abortion issue, but TIJ - the only 'social stigma' attached, in this case, would be from surrogate motherhood]both[/I] would merit funds. But again; TIJ. No money, no adoption. Just hospital staff 'dangerously' working alone with petri dishes.

The article says that in 30% of 83 cases (25 cases or so?) proper procedures were not followed.
