Yup, but ain't it great. I go through hostesses about as fast as I go through shirts and love every second of it!
Well said, a hostess job, I assume, lasts between the girl is 20 to early 30s, after that what else could she do? Get married? Would marrying a retired hostess girl appeal to you?
Where that probably does not appeal to you Bo-chan, most do get married and/or find a patron. Those who are then sponsored, will open their own place on their patron's tab and the system perpetuates. There's all level of hostesses from the late 20's to late 40's and with the right clothes and make-up, you won't notice the difference at night (count a couple of beers in there as well). Those at that level who mind their money, begin to appear in all parts of society among the rich and since marriage isn't that uncommon, you might want to be careful about down playing those types in front of Japanese, because you never know who might have been a hostess in this society.
If one hasn't been around that Ginza-type level of society, one can't even attempt to evaluate it. That's what is wrong about most of the so-called informative articles. The guys, or even gals, who write these articles have never had the money or the necessary introductions to get into those upper reaches of that type of mizu-shobai and as such, have no idea what they are writing about. 99% are written based on the interview of someone else, or that ' "so and so" took me to the most exclusive of all ginza clubs and.....'
