A South Korean woman who has been deported twice was arrested on suspicion of illegally entering Japan, Tokyo police said Wednesday. Ju Min Kyung, a 32-year-old bar hostess, apparently slipped through a system that uses fingerprints and other biometric data to identify people who have been deported, police sources said. She admitted to illegally entering Japan but denied allegations she got around the biometric detection system. The suspect was first deported in 2002 and then in October 2008. Police believe there are many deported South Koreans working as bar hostesses after illegally entering the country.

An Oklahoma woman accused of running a prostitution and drug trafficking ring out of a Norman, Okla. massage parlor had used a North Texas store to purchase a money order with cash from her businesses, an Oklahoma official said Thursday.

Police here Thursday arrested the alleged ringleader of a gang that provided fake fingerprints and passports for people to enter Japan illegally. The leader, a South Korean, is being held on suspicion of violating the passport law and other charges. The case against the man will be applied to 17 others in the 20-member group. Police said the ring sold silicon fingerprint appliques and fake passports copied from other Koreans to foil the fingerprint-screening system at airport immigration counters in Japan. According to Seoul police, the group made the fingerprint appliques using silicon and adhesives and gave fake passports to 13 people for a total of 200 million won (16 million yen, or $170,000). Of the 13, eight had entered Japan.
