There is a story about Victor buying the Pentax camera division from Hoya. Not confirmed yet, but interesting if true. There is just no love for Pentax these days.

The only Pentax cameras I have ever seen were the ones owned by Pentax (now Hoya) employees. Their consumer products just do not appeal to the mass general public.

Pentax has some kind of partnership (I forgot if it was the lens, CCD, etc) with Samsung.

The clouds broke open for a little bit along the way but as we got closer the skies again grew dark and ominous. We were thankful that we both use Pentax cameras and lenses which are made to withstand the elements. The Nikkei said last week that Kenwood has pulled out of talks to sell the record label to Konami. The company has also dropped plans to buy the Pentax brand from Hoya.
