In a semi perfect world they would have their license to breed taken away. In a perfect world their license application five years ago would have been rejected.

On the other hand, in a semi-perfect world, he would be found not guilty through provocation.

does anyone know what the rate of domestic violence is in japan? aside from the odd high profile murder case, you don't really hear about spousal abuse so much.

The official numbers are one of the lowest amongst OECD countries but it is also largely understood that it is an under-reported crime in Japan.

I concur!

But what I really want to know is what will happen with the kids or what usually happens with kids in Japan when they get caught up in this kind of mess?

Hell, even rape is wildly under reported... Domestic violence might not even be considered as crime-level event. The country is not even psychologically mature enough for this kind of realisation. DV is a war that can happen on so many battlefield, most of them not understood or recogniseable here. (try to make them understand the concept of gaslighting and call me if you succeed...

that's terrible! the middle east definitely has one of the highest rates of wife abuse. the worst part is the guy won't even get criminally charged for that. :(

A 72 year old woman in Saitama has been arrested after stabbing her 76 year old husband in the chest with a 10cm fruit knife while he was sleeping. He escaped with only minor injuries, possible because his wife was drunk when she attacked him. The woman telephoned her eldest daughter after the stabbing who then told her brother and it was he who called the police. The woman is reported to have said that her husband had beaten and abused her for years and she finally snapped.

Yomiuri: Woman arrested after husband set on fire
A 38-year-old Tokyo woman was arrested Saturday on suspicion of trying to murder her husband by pouring kerosene over him and setting him alight, apparently while she was drunk, police said. According to Tanashi Police Station, Kazue Furuya, tried to kill her 66-year-old husband at their apartment in Higashi-Kurume at about 10:10 a.m. Friday. Her husband remains unconscious and in serious condition with burns over his entire body. A nearby resident called for help after seeing the husband come out of the apartment in a ball of flame.

That 28 year age gap clearly came to a head.

Maybe the marriage troubles evolved because it didn't come to a head...wouldn't be the first time that had happened.

What is it with Japanese husbands that they keep throwing their wives off balconies?

Would probably happen more in the west if middle aged western women were liftable... (FGL ducks and runs!)

79-year-old woman beats husband to death after arguing about past girlfriends

Police in Nakaimachi, Kanagawa Prefecture, said Tuesday they have arrested a 79-year-old woman for beating to death her 79-year-old husband at their home.

Police said Yoshiko Suzuzki has admitted killing her husband Masaharu after they got into an argument over his girlfriends of several decades ago, TV Asahi reported.

According to police, Yoshiko beat her husband to death with a rod in their livingroom at around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday night. The couple lived together with their second oldest daughter, 43, who was not home at the time.

TV Asahi reported that last September the couple got into a fight about Masaharu’s former girlfriends and police had to be called to break up the fight.

One comment deserves highlighting:
LOL. Guess she asked the question every man fears being asked "Do you think she is/was prettier than me?", and he gave the wrong answer.
