Japan Overall: "NO FAT CHICKS"

Postby Screwed-down Hairdo » Tue Mar 16, 2010 7:04 pm

The article wrote:While the average American woman has gained about 25 pounds over the past 30 years, Takagi has gained 4.5 pounds, typical for her age cohort in Japan, according to U.S. and Japanese government figures.

Story here.

Ask anyone who was in Japan 25 - 30 years ago. Then, you could walk around Tokyo for two years and count the fat people you saw - men and women- on one hand.

Even compared to eleven and a half years ago when I first came there are a lot more fat people. I guess I started a trend when I arrived.

There are more than in the 90s, for sure, but there is a long way to go to catch up to the US or Canada...it's always a shock to go home and remember just how big people can get.

You beat me to the punch here. Same arrival time and it was rare to see someone who was even "chunky". Can't be that much "I have a glandular disorder" in Japan also. Dunno how people can get large here, I've lost about 15 kg since I got here...it took awhile for my atrophied by life in the parking lot that is LA legs to grow back.

When the shops start carrying "cute" clothes in large sizes (as they do now) you know that all is lost and the fatties are here to stay.... on the other hand, Mickey D's and their hormone-infused meats have seem to created bigger breasts amongst the Japanese....not that I'm complaining, but dayum, compared to 10 years ago, you see a whole lot more D-cup Koukousei walking around....

Some of those D-Cups are the silicon valley of Japan. Sure some of it is due to Micky D's hormone meats but others are store bought.

I'm with GG.
In fact, one of the things that most turns me on sexually nowadays is fucking around with women's bra pads and giving them hell after I reveal how much they've been lying to the world (OK, I'm sorry. I'm fucking warped, but I've probably seen more than most and I really need something kinky to even get me close to being turned on...)

Doesnt the ban on US meat mean that the hormone laced Royals with cheese are made of domestic beef?

A little bit more meat on some of them - definately not a bad thing. I think the whole thing is starting to move away from the average. Skinny girls are getting skinnier, big girls are getting bigger.
I broke a mirror this morning, which means I should be getting 7 years of bad luck - but my lawyer says he can get me 5.

A little more meat is one thing, the problem is when they start carrying around the whole cow.

So if I've got this right, the article says that "American women are generally overweight, whilst Japanese women are not."

What an astounding revelation. Definitely Pulitzer material.

The problem is when the data is collected for most of these studies there is no way to differentiate who is an athlete, gym rat, or even just a genetically gifted individual. So how then is BMI good to define how "fat" a nation has become, when myself and so many others add to the negative in these studies?

As a matter of fact I was part of one of these studies 2 years ago, and after the blood work, and the body fat test coming out with excellent results, they still listed my BMI as "obese"

Do you have a problem understanding that?

Ah yes, the glory days of Juliana's and the "tachi-dai" dancing etc. in the 90's.
I say bring 'em back for sure! (Just make sure to leave the 90's bushy eyebrows behind...)

I think that you can make the case that on both sides of the pound, people are over-doing and taking this weight thing way out of proportion.
In the states women are getting bigger to a large extent, but to generalize is also a bit far fetched.
There are still many, many women that won't allow themselves to look like a Zeppelin.
Having family in California and in the deep South of Mississippi, there is a difference in how people care for themselves, diet, exercise etc. Though the food in the can be quite good, I wouldn't recommend the diet on a daily basis, but the taste...hmmmm!
California cuisine then again is geared to Ueber-meatless eaters. It almost got to the point that eating meat has become a sin. Vegan is the thing to be.
So people tend to watch their weight a bit more, exercise, going to the gym.
Japan on the other hand, most women are skinny, you have TV ads all the time trying to show off their products to get women to lose weight. As if they need to.
I think that in both the states and in Japan there are too many extremes. No guy wants a woman to eat everything on the menu except for "Thank you" please come again! and No guy wants a woman that eats Pocky for Breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Moderation is the key.

This would be the alternative...

For that matter you can leave the hairdos behind too. The era from about 1985 to 1995 produced some of the most uncomplimentary coiffures in history. They are the equivalent to men's suit styles in the 1970's.

Which would make sense because you wouldn't need your right arm after that.

What a truly horrifying human being. That's a terrible example to her child. I would have not wanted to be the obstetrician who was there for that pregnancy... it must have been a real eye-melter.

"Doctor, which fold is the baby going to come out of?!?!"

Also, why would ANYONE who isn't some sort of mutant want to impregnate that.

On another hand, I've always wondered just how fat someone would have to be before someone could have sex with their belly button... I'd say it's about her size.

Interestingly, 12,000 calories it the number Michael Phelps needs to maintain his weight (and barely manage to do so) during training... but that doesn't mean she needs to be eating that much.
