Better going to France for these kind of things... Japan is not a good place for a communist-activist-anti-somestuff-oranother...
Enjoy the status quo and don't feed the crows thanks...

This is one of a number of blog entries on the internet about the case. Supporters are planning to protest at Japanese embassies around the world this weekend. I thought I'd heard of Jamal Saberi because I read that he was once arrested (but not charged) for demonstrating outside the United Nations University in Aoyama which seemed to ring a bell. However, I think I've confused him with Kurdish refugee Erdal Dogan who may have been there at the same time. I can't find any online mention of Jalal by the usual English language sources on Japan so it looks like his case hasn't picked up as much publicity.

Jamal Saberi Arrested by Police September 22, 2004 Let's Kick Off Urgent Action
About 30 riot police arrested Jamal Sarberi Wednesday, September 22, 2004, just after he and supporters of two asylum-seeking Kurdish families of Ahmet Kazankiran and Erdal Dogan staging a sit-in at open space of United Nations University in Tokyo's Shibuya district since July 13, got into a scuffle with guards.
Comrade Jamal, was arrested in the name of assault, having allegedly shoved one of the U.N.U. guards as they were removing posters in support of the Kurds from the university's walls and space. But, in fact, this a plot in order to arrest Jamal who has led the actions and to crush the never-ending sit in protests.
The UN House official where Tokyo office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees is located, ordered two Kurdish families to leave the campus, where their tent is situated. According to the UN order, Guardmen of UN House began to destory our banner and poster and enforced protesting women to kick out. Thouse who sould be arrested for assault was brutal guardmen.
Comrade Jamal who engaged in peaceful protest actions was arrested by riot police invading UN House site. He is innosent.
Members of Free Jamal Campaign and supportes of the Kurdish families went to Shibuya police station where Jamal was got into custody immediate after he was arrested. Furtermore we held the rally and protest action against Shibuya police station to demand let him free now! Now we found the new organization to let him free from the custody beside ongoing Free Jamal Campaign and kick off new campagin.
Please show your support to Jamal against Jamanese Embassy or affiriated institusions in your country.
