If there's one thing I hate more than the hentai, otaku sub-culture it's the vocal American morality groups that get offended at the drop of a hat. Here's a thought Japan... if these groups are so upset at what's leaked onto the internet from your borders, fire a return salvo by demanding the American government censors all genitals from their porn as this offends Japanese laws. This report is drawing fire on Japan blogs, partly because the RapeLay game was a major news a year ago and so is apparently now "old hat". That criticism seems to miss the point that there is an active discussion taking place in Japan today about regulating sexual explicit manga and the debate has expanded to include anime and games. RapeLay is a poster boy for this kind of content so, as long as the issue remains open, it's likely to keep being wheeled out as an example.

Attempts to ban a deplorable "rape simulator" video game have only caused it to spread virally across the internet, leading to calls for sites hosting the game to be blocked by internet censors. Karen Willis, executive officer of the NSW Rape Crisis Centre, said in a phone interview that the existence of material such as the RapeLay video game, which lets players simulate stalking and raping young girls, made internet filters, such as those proposed by the government, necessary.

But the stupid part was the poll at the end...
