MORE than 64,000 people are living illegally in Australia. More than two thirds of those, who came to Australia on legal visas and have overstayed, have been continuously living here for more than two years.

Malaysians were the worst offenders for overstaying, as 9440 people from the southeast Asian nation were here on expired visas as at June 30, according to Immigration Department figures.

This was followed by China, with 6500 overstayers; there were 5710 unlawful non-citizens from the US and 3680 people from the UK.

Indonesia, India, South Korea, Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand all had between 2200 and 2800 people living illegally in Australia, though Germany, France, Japan and Fiji all feature on the list of top offenders as well.

So I won a 6-day quarantine hotel stay at Narita. On day 3 and I have Omicron symptoms. (they took a sample this morning but haven't yet received the results)

I tested neg on Jan 3rd, 5th in freedomland and neg on the 6th upon arrival, as did anyone near me on the flight.....but then I spent 9 hours freezing my ass off at a Narita boarding lounge while the authorities arranged hotels/buses for us and added all kinds of apps to our phones we had far too many people exhausted people sitting/sleeping together. I'm thinking whoever had the rona in that group spread it far and wide, based on how contagious it's supposed to be. This whole song and dance is DMV-level organized, the hotel is fine, must cost a pretty penny....but ultimately, I think they are seeding the virus among each incoming group. :wall: Will know for sure shortly...but my guess is we'd be better off without all this mess.
