I think the ad says all you need to know. Click on the headline above or the images below to see them more clearly:

And here's the link. The service opened for business on Monday 10th. The link gives profiles of some of the girls they claim to have on their books and you'll see it also mentions that the men should be over 25 and under 50 years old. There's no sign-up fee or monthly membership fee but they'll take 400,000 yen from you if wedding bells ring.

The girls do wear them for the omiai. It's not clear whether the blokes are supposed to tog up too but that top picture suggests they might.

Kimono shkimono, I have never cared much for tradition. As far as I care the candidate doesn't have to wear anything for the meeting.

Kind? Dependable? Modest and reserved? They forgot to mention a 1 foot long dick for the boys and high political awareness for the J gals.

My experience with organized events for men to meet women at is that they all suck.

The major problem with them is that the women don't take them seriously. Given a green light under the context of the event, they simply never decide on a man but end up lapping up all the attention from all the men thrown their way, then discard the men when they grow tired of them (which is fairly early on in the piece).

This must be another example of deflation. I would have thought 10 million yen.

My thoughts exactly. Seven million still a kind of round number, but they had to sacrifice a zero in going below ten. Still, in this threadbare, decrepit, Eastern-bloc place, an income of more than a few million a year is reserved for only a lucky few.

Not to mention the fact that you only pay 400K if and when you get hitched. Times is tough.

Yeah, I was surprised it was so low too. Even 10million isn't much, really.

I'm screwed not by the salary requirement but by them wanting single guys... Picky picky!

The fact that there is a company hawking "Japanese culture" to moderately wealthy foreigners in the form of gold-digger brides is hilarious.

I wonder if they get a bonus if some mongrel haafu get shussan'ed.

Does the man get a refund if it turns out she's Korean?

My guess is it has something to do with the age range: 25 to 50. If you're mid to late 20s and making 7 mil it's pretty good. If you're a college grad and not making that by your mid 30s, you probably fucked up somewhere along the line.

The agency claims the average annual salary of men on their books is 13 million yen but, since they've only just launched the "elite foreigner" plan, that probably refers to Japanese guys.

Please don't share your "man member data" here.

The Japanese "Status Plan" is structured the same way but also adds a 10,000 yen fee if the omiai successfully results in another meeting. I can't see a specific income requirement mentioned for the locals but you must have a "high status" job, be sincere about getting married and, interestingly, be a non-smoker or someone who intends to quit.

I've posted a couple of my articles on the front page of FG. The traffic boost is substantial. Knowing that this company just started I have no doubt that FG offered them quite a jump. Yet I imagine reading http://www.fuckedgaijin.com in the referral logs wasn't something that is entirely pleasing.

And this figure will increase in real terms over the next 5 years.

But if you narrow the field to male graduates of 4 year universities you're going to see a higher average When a lot of Japanese people talk about salaries they only mention their monthly income which makes it seem like they're making a lot less than they are. When you factor in transportation, fixed "bonuses", housing allowance, etc. the picture starts to look a little better.

nottu wrote:I would be interested to know the real figures but probably difficult to get. However, what I'm seeing on the ground is very strong wage deflation along a series of fronts - reduced or no bonuses, 4 1/2 work weeks, layoffs, part-time vs full time. I know new college grads with computer science degrees lucky to get a job making survival wages without much upward mobility in sight. Things are rapidly changing.

Ya, i can concur with that. I recently saw a 10% (or more in case of junior staff) decrease in salary and more performance-based "bonuses" amongst the JP staff at work. Thank God I'm an FG.
