Hottest summer since 1898 ... at least

Postby Yokohammer » Thu Sep 02, 2010 9:21 am

It's official!
This year's summer, one of Japan's legendary four seasons, has been the hottest ever recorded!

The records go back to 1898, or Meiji 31 if you insist on the Japanese version. Of course we have no way of knowing if there were hotter summers before 1898, although I kinda suspect it was pretty hot when the dinosaurs were around.

Summer officially hottest on record

So ... is this just an anomaly, or proof of global warming?

If we could just find those missing ultra-centenarians, then we'd have some first-hand accounts.

They could do a cross section on some of the mummified ones and check the rings too.

One of the causes of the hot weather this summer has been a change in the Pacific ocean currents, which until this year have been responsible for keeping temperatures down. Most climatologists say these ocean current changes are independent from any global warming trend.

Looking around on Google, I happened across this article from January predicting this would be a record-hot summer due to the ocean current shifts.

Why, we can just ask Greji.

It's just got to be more evidence of global warming because the 2010 British winter was the coldest for 31 years.

112 years beats 31 years. Do the math.

Ok, so in 1898 which brand of SUV was to blame for the hot globalwarmed summer ?

Because for frack sake, if the temperature holding the previous record predate anykind of industrial revolution... Maybe we might be onto something regarding AT LEAST the human influence on this bullcrap...

No no ... it's the hottest summer ever recorded ... they started keeping records in 1898.
That doesn't mean that 1898 was as hot as this year.

Anyway, if it was it was probably due to water buffalo farts. Or maybe whale farts (there were more of them then).

Or maybe it's caused by climate change scientists farts. There wasn't many of them around in 1898.

Sorrryy... Since WE French keep better recording of meteorological happenstance (Started after Napoleon got a combat fleet fubared by a storm before a big day angainst them britishes). When it's making the news it's always by refrence against the previous hottest day on record. Never an absolute high. Because.... To be honest... These kind of absolute are always questionnable... Like measure for total precipitation not done if it rains too much for example...

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles

Low temperatures tie records at LAX, Oceanside
September 1, 2010 | 9:12 pm

Record low temperatures for the date were tied Wednesday at Los Angeles International Airport and Oceanside in San Diego County.

The temperature was 58 degrees at LAX, tying a record set in 1951, the National Weather Service said. Oceanside dropped to 66 degrees, tying a record that has stood since 1914.

Warm weather is expected across Southern California on Thursday and Friday as a high-pressure system builds over the region, the weather service said.

ya, may people complain about the heat... f*** the heat, goddamn humidity is what sucks.

I'm from cali, it is HOT there, not as hot as other places, but when it is like 30 at 2AM, you dont forget it. good for the late night activities, but not good for when you are trying to go to sleep.

Has the humidity changed? or just the temperature?

Dr Mann's own colleague on the process that made the hockey stick the great iconic image of turn-of-the-century climate alarmism has testified to Congress that Mann's work is a "misrepresentation". Which is a polite word for fraud. Professor Christy again:

So, to summarize, an L.A. was given final say over a section which included as its (and the IPCC's) featured product,
his very own chart, and which allowed him to leave out not only entire studies that presented contrary evidence,
but even to use another strategically edited data set that had originally displayed contrary evidence.

That last is a reference to Keith Briffa's tree-ring set, which supports Mann's hockey stick except when it doesn't and therefore had to be "truncated".

"Misrepresented..." "Strategically edited..." "Amputating another's result..." Does this happen often? With the exception of the coordinator, there were only two American Lead Authors on that IPCC chapter, and the one has testified under oath that the other corrupted the process.

So here am I, approaching the two-year mark in a seven-figure legal battle over a 270-word blog post that said something even Mann's own colleagues would agree with. It would be easy in such circumstances to grow embittered, and sullen, and fester like a disease-ridden rodent, its pustules oozing into the toxic slime of the dank sewer of DC justice. Yet, au contraire, I feel rather buoyant. Doctors Christy and Curry are at the stage of their careers where they can just about afford to take on "the hockey team" - although the price is steep: very few people, no matter their eminence, would volunteer to be "judithcurryed". But I've been shocked to learn of the young scientists who are sick of living under the suffocating orthodoxy the climate mullahs enforce. My initial free-speech interest in this case was a personal one: I have the right to say what I said about Mann, because it happens to be true. But it's broadened since then: climate science itself desperately needs free speech - which is to say the right to counter the Mann orthodoxy without having one's career cut off as crudely as Briffa's poor tree rings were when they had the impertinence to disagree with Mann. I'm immensely grateful to the ongoing support from readers all around the world who've globally warmed to this campaign. It will be an important victory....
