Judge Orders Woman To Pay Host Club Bill

Postby Mulboyne » Wed Oct 27, 2010 1:12 am

[floatl]Image[/floatl]A Tokyo district court has ordered a woman to pay a 1.75 million yen host club bill. In 2008, the woman celebrated the birthday of one Kabukicho host with a 20 bottle champagne tower which alone came to 1.48 million yen. She was due to pay the total bill later but didn't come up with the money so the club took her to court. The woman claimed she didn't order the tower but the judge thought her testimony was unreliable, pointing out that she spent six hours in the club. The woman had also claimed the price of the tower was excessive. The judge agreed that the price of an individual bottle of champagne was Y6,130 on the menu but, taking into consideration the time to set up a tower, the price was not out of line with the charges you might expect at a host club. Interestingly, the judge in this case was Masumi Kurachi (pictured left).

I see this as proof of Japanese gender equality.
J-women seem be becoming just as dumb, willful and childish as J-men, and that's sad.

The judge seems to be an exception; good on her!

Imagine all the champagne calls along with those bottles.

If you don't know what a champagne call is:

It's absurdly overpriced but the judge is right that 1-2 million is standard in these clubs. As well as just plain gouging, the price includes the fact that the hosts give up trying to get money out of the other customers and focus on you, so I suppose there's an element of opportunity cost factored in too. There's no way you'd order a champagne tower by mistake. The girl probably just went with the flow after being egged on by the hosts.

That kind of high-pressure sales tactic would be illegal on your doorstep but if you walk into a host or hostess club then I guess the judge thinks you are fair game. The girl must have been to the club before if they were willing to let her carry her bill. If she really wanted to duck out of it then she would have done better to concoct a story saying the club tried to coerce her into turning tricks to pay it off. After all, that does happen. Sadly, if she did go to the clubs regularly, then there's a good chance she was in the business anyway.

It's hard to say who's right and wrong here.
Sure, the woman knew what she was getting herself into, but after six hours on the piss, her judgment skills are probably not gonna be honed to their finest. I know when I'm sozzled and the little head starts thinking instead of the big head, a couple of million yen for a quickie starts looking really cheap. Plied by pretty young men, the panties dampening and the booze bluster kicking in, the woman's vulnerable to doing things she may not be aware of...like racking up a 1.5 million yen bill. Back in the day, I reckon the courts may have sided with her, saying that she wasn't of sound mind at the time, but it's not really PC to forgive alcohol inspired indiscretions anymore.
Having said that, she probably knew what she was getting in for when she went into the host club and such outrageously priced "services" are hardly unknown, so I can see where the judge is coming from.
Perhaps the judge could have found the woman culpable, but also had a go at the host club for being so ludicrously expensive and only ordered a token repayment?
Personally, I disagree that this is a ruling for gender equality...I think the judge may be suffering a little cunt envy and punished the woman for having the temerity to frequent host bars instead of being a decent yamato nadeshikowho would never dream of a titillating night on the town.

What kind of cheapass host place charges only 6,130 yen for a bottle of champagnes? On Kakuyasu you could get a decent Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label for around the same price, but I don't see a host club selling booze for cost..... 60,000 yen a bottle comes close to the 1.5 million that they are talking about, sounds more "reasonable" than a million + yen just to set up the tower. Then again, 6 hrs in the club is 200,000 yen / hour at their rates...... cash money.

Dragonette wrote:Since she did know what she was getting herself into, she should have put a limit on her host bar drinking - if she wanted to get herself pissy drunk, there's always the local akachochin. And if she was after a quickie, her chances would likely be better, too.

Can't disagree with either point, which is why I could partly understand the ruling. Still, I don't think she was likely to have been in a position to make what proved such a costly judgment and there was a time when the court may have showed her some leniency.

Even though I have an admitted weakness for J-guys, (I've kept mine for decades in spite of his faults) - any photos, videos I've seen of hosts display scrawny, homely, youngish but totally wasted androgynous-looking man-boys. (See earlier champagne call video)
To each their own. She probably fancies scrawny, homely, youngish types. I like willowy, leggy, nubile types, Greji likes goats, Take blow-up dolls and McTojo lactating women...can't hold her tastes against her....

Agreed!!! I've always said women's lib was one of the silliest things out...Now, thanks to giving women a voice, everybody knows women rule the world and women have consequently opened themselves to dislike or even disdain. Before, women ruling the world was a wonderfully kept secret and we all adored you.

I think you are mistaken on "everybody passed on it." If you will check earlier posts, you will find, I am in your way and the best you can hope for is sloppy seconds. Now get back in line where you belong!
