(on this picture: what a complete dunce might look like)

Source is sankakucomplex... so maybe not the best... But I think I just witnessed my 3rd most violent political suicide. (the 2 first were Francois De Grossouvre and Pierre Beregovoy, but they both put a bullet through their skulls... and also I was sort of not really happy because I was a big fan of De Grossouvre...)

But here... BACK ON TOPIC...

Our favorite Tokoite demented grandpa, their Mayor S Ishihara stated the quake was a divine retribution against the people of Japan...

If this guy get re-elected... I will have to draw the conclusion that Tokyo is in fact the biggest Insane Asylum on this planet...

Sounds like Ishihara and the anti-whaling nut what's-his-name agree on something!

Hey, where are the gaijin riots he said would happen.

Time for this POS to go join his hack brother.

Honestly... I would rather have prefered it to be a false rumor... Looking like a dork would have been 10000 better than having the proof that this guy is not a just a populist trying to get re-elected but in fact a completely genuine lunatic probably directly dangerous for himself and any human being within his reach. I would not be surprised anymore if this guy is discovered to have link with apocalyptic cults...

He said that the quake and tsunami were divine retribution for Japan's culture of greed.

Yes! I survived the quake Gaijin. And of course I'm going to side with Ishihara on this one. His remarks couldn't have come at a worse time, but I don't think he meant it out of disrespect for the victims. Japan is a country that has been steeped in animism, and god worship for centuries. For a man his age to make this comment is totally acceptable. The "retribution and punishment" idea is totally consistent with Japanese thinking. And what he said about Japanese being selfish and materialistic is true.

Maybe some...I repeat..some of the above is true. It's the timing of the whole thing that sucks. People are in need of support, not lectures that they brought this upon themselves.

There is absolutely no connection between natural events and theories of divine justice.

There may however be a connection between the fundamentals of Japanese society and the frequency of natural disasters. If you live with the knowledge the earth will shake and the seas rise you might well decide to indulge yourself while you can.

Matsuzawa quits, backs Ishihara

By TAKAHIRO FUKADA
Staff writer

Kanagawa Gov. Shigefumi Matsuzawa said Monday he will not run in the April 10 Tokyo gubernatorial election and will instead support incumbent Tokyo Gov. Shintaro Ishihara.

In light of the earthquake and tsunami damage in the Tohoku and Kanto regions and the governors alliance covering Tokyo, Kanagawa, and surrounding prefectures, Matsuzawa said he decided to pull out.

your latter clause is neither either. Thanks for indulging me though. You are absolutely wrong. Since biblical times the sins of man have always led to natural disasters by some form of divine justice. Even Western literature supports this lore. Ishihara was making a metaphorical statement to bring attention to the the selfishness and conspicuous consumption that has eaten at the core of this country's moral fiber. Japanese people love Ishihara because he says what he feels for the sake of the greater of the whole nation. He will be reelected. It's almost a guarantee.

First, Ishihara has written rape novels that inspired copy cat crimes, so he can not in anyway speak with any sort of authority about morals. Second, if God or the Gods created humanity with any sort of freewill or freedom to choose, it's their fault if humanity doesn't always do the right thing. If the gods wanted to make sure we were good, they should have either let us not have any free will, or decided to come live among us to show us the right way to live.

Japan Times: Ishihara sorry for quake gaffe

"I will take back (the remark) and offer a deep apology," Ishihara said, adding that he should have thought about the feelings of the victims.

I think that's the closest thing to an actual apology I've ever heard the guy give. Opening the article, I was expecting another of his usual "I'm sorry if anyone was offended" excuses.

Somehow I just can't get into a warm fuzzy forgiving mood about this. Perhaps he could come up here and help clean up the carnage with his own hands, then I might consider forgiving him. Get a little dirt on that spotless work shirt, eh Blinky?

That goes for the rest of the arrogant fucks making out-of-touch proclamations from the ivory tower in their laughably unsoiled "work" garments as well.

I think the only reason he's apologizing is he's realized what he said could utterly destroy any chance of him getting re-elected. I honestly hope the Japanese see this false apology for what it is, and vote the heartless bastard out. Forgiveness has it's limits, and Ishihara's gone far beyond them.
