A J-Crew charity T-Shirt aimed at raising funds for disaster relief has allegedly angered Korean nationalists. The design shows a map of the Japan and identifies the waters to the East as the "Sea of Japan" which is a name many in Korea find objectionable. J-Crew apparently replied to objections by pointing out that the design was not intended to be political and the only aim is to show support for Japan. Some in Korea are said to be calling for a boycott of the company's products.

How about Japan showing some magnamity to their neighbors so desperate to get their East Sea and making everybody happy?
Here's my proposal....
1) We keep the Sea of Japan named as it is because that's how the rest of the world except postwar South Korea has known it;
2) Japan agrees to donate part of its territorial waters on its east coast to South Korea so it can be named the East Sea, with the added benefit of truly being east of all of Asia and thus semantically correct as well.
3) Said donated area is just off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture in the vicinity of the Fukushima Daini reactor, an area currently attracting global attention and with the potential of drawing in trillions of yen in investment over the coming years.
Note: Despite donation of territorial waters, visa restrictions will continue to apply to South Korean nationals unless they volunteer for cleaning up the area and other radiantly glowing beautification activities.

Whenever my Korean friends say the East Sea I act like I have no idea what they're talking about. Of course they know I know the name Sea of Japan but they refuse to use it. It's great watching them struggle to explain it to me with their limited English instead of taking the easy way out.

I did once get a Korean guy to admit that it didn't make sense for Japan to call it the East Sea since it lies to the west of Japan. He actually said, "Good point. I never thought of that."

Now that IS a post I don't believe, I can't fucking believe you wrote that shit right there. Ask any fucking foreigner whose worked in Korea how 'high' the average Korean IQ is and you'll get stunned stares of disbelief from IT workers thru to English teachers, from Indians, Americans and Aussies thru to Africans.

Koreans don't have a reputation from foreigners who live there for being irrational and stupid acting racists for nothing.

Some of them feel free to be real racist cunts to people outside Korea (in Korea racism to non Koreans is taken for granted as a Korean right because of the 'pure' Korean blood) including in Sydney. There they have a well deserved rep for refusing service at their restaurants to darker skinned people and using terms like n### in Korean around Indians, Pakistanis and Aboriginal people. Of course they don't translate that into English for em.

A common sight there I've heard from many English teachers in Korea is mothers staring vacantly while their kids run out onto the road in front of speeding trucks and cars. I saw first hand there while visiting mates how Koreans drive directly at people crossing the street with green pedestrian lights then start screaming and going into fucking meltdown at the walkers cause they followed the law.

They're coached from an early age to do what kids from other countries have never done at school. Korean kids also spend up to 7 hours more each day studying and doing test practice than Aussie kids yet the top Aussie students have the same scores as the top Korean kids for maths, science etc. You'd find the same in just about every other developed country if you werent so gullible.

I don't really put much stock in IQ stats but every ranking I've seen put S. Korea in the top 3 along with other East Asian nations. That's a fact. Whether or not that means anything about intelligence is debatable.

Korea only got good at making electronics by copying the Japanese. When I was a kid they said the same thing about Japan and the US. In another 10 or 15 years they'll probably be saying the same thing about the Chinese and Koreans. What's your fucking point?

As any research and any foreign friend in Korea whos not gullible will tell ya, Koreans lie, lie and lie more. They get pinged for having fake degrees (lotsa scandals there about uni profs and others) so they make foreigner English teachers jump thru hoops to prove not only their degree aint faked but their university didn't suddenly for no reason give em a fake degree.

Their 'IQ results' are based on tests they do with no input from foreigners or bodies to oversee that nobodys cheating or that the conditions are legit. Fudged results have been part of education in Korea for a long time, just ask foreigner vets of Korea, I met lots incl those who'd been there for about 15 yrs. Honest if you believe the shit Koreans say I'm fucking surprised you havent been taken for everything you own.
