WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court will decide if a Japanese couple can be deported because of their convictions resulting from a false tax return.

The justices will hear an appeal from Akio and Fusako Kawashima, who became permanent lawful residents in 1984. But he pleaded guilty to subscribing to a false statement on a federal tax return, and she pleaded guilty to aiding and assisting in preparing a false tax return statement.

Immigration officials want to deport them because the financial amount of the crime. Anything over $10,000 is considered an aggravated felony, and Kawashima said in his plea the government's tax loss was $245,126.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld their deportation, but the high court will review it.

Any foreign-born immigrants, residents and second-class citizens who commit felonies in the USA should be tried, convicted, fined and deported in handcuffs back to wherever the hell they came from. God Bless America.

Okay. That plays. But, by that standard, you are not going to be able to bitch when a fellow FG has it inserted deeply and broken off for whatever reason while here in mighty Nippon......

Well, IMHO, Japan should do the exact same thing. Why lock up foreign criminals and give them free food, water and prison sex at the Japanese taxpayers' expense?

Also there are just too many illegal and legal foreigners in almost all US prisons. They should brand their goddam names into their foreheads so that they can be easily identified if they try to return on another passport. You know they all look the same and shit.

Why not make them wear stars or something to indicate their religion, sexual preference, political beliefs and all that other anti-Merican stuff, too? Certainly make those gaddamnned mofos easier to handle.

I don't really see the French as a threat, more of a nuisance.

Regardless of origin and the country the crime is committed in, how can you not get royally fucked if you go in as a foreigner, make a bunch of money there while defrauding the government, and get caught? Fuck em

In most cases, they file civil, nor criminal charges. Dealing with the American IRS is nasty brutish and unpleasant - and God help you should they make a mistake - it'll cost you an arm & a leg to sort it out.

I believe we'd be hard-pressed to see an American permanent resident of Japan being deported over tax evasion convictions.

I certainly don't enjoy filing and paying taxes, but my experience with the Japanese system has been far far more pleasant than the US regime.

Well, in this particular case, they pleaded guilty and probably because there is no reasonable way they could falsify $245,126 and it not be deliberate....and it's the amount ( anything over $10K apparently) that makes it an aggravated felony.

I will agree that the US IRS is definitely not someone you should mess with. Place I worked at 10 years ago fired me over a non-work related issue. (nosey fuckers I tell yah!) I then found out they hadn't been properly filing taxes most of the time I was there so although I was there for about 5 years, my unemployment checks (hey, I was still a student!) were crap and SS wasn't properly payed into. I brought the issue up with the owner and he wasn't willing to do anything about it. I suggested that it was much better to settle with me than deal with the IRS (there were several employees he had avoided paying taxes on) but he chose to "call my bluff." Reported it to the IRS next day....few months later I got paid out by the company and a sob story, asking to assist him in "minimizing the damage." :D
