[floatr][/floatr]Josei Seven writes that Tomoko Nakajima, one half of female comedy duo Othello, is currently spending all her time with a middle-aged woman who represents herself as a spiritualist. Nakajima took a break from the entertainment world with some unspecified illness and has not returned to work on a regular basis. This kind of speculation is par for the course in the industry but the story has a neat little twist. Josei Seven quotes journalist and politician Yoshifu Arita as saying that the spiritualist bears a striking resemblance to Aum Shinrikyo fugitive Naoko Kikuchi (pictured). Arita says that police are interested in the woman and have even taken her fingerprints. There was no match, which would seem to put an end to the matter, but police are said to be investigating whether the woman has had her prints altered. There are clearly friends and associates of Nakajima who don't wish this new hanger-on well, and want to discredit her, but it would be bizarre if she did indeed turn out to be one of Japan's most-wanted.

My wife watches a show with her on it and I watched it happen. She's lost most of the weight now but my guess is she was on some kind of medication and didn't want to disclose the problems as there is no way it would happen that fast normally. The J-blogs etc were all saying it was depression etc according to my wife but they say that as an excuse for a lot of things.

I was always of the view that Aum would have tracked down and killed the fugitives a long time ago. The cult would have been very concerned about people with that amount of knowledge running around free. The brazen way they got rid of their first PR bloke Murai establishes their modus operandi.

If Arita's theory is correct, she deserves some respect for 16 years on the run.
(Ignoring the geinoukai element of this story which sadly is the only reason this is being reported. As though Aum is no longer enough.)
