The article is a bit fuzzy on explanations but it sounds like most of these guys they are interviewing are admitting only here for money doing (insert shady Nigerian stereotypical job here) and marry/make babies while they're here, only to take all the money back to Nigeria sometime in the future. Can you honestly blame any government/citizens of any country for not welcoming them with open arms?

I have a tremendous Nigerian pen friend. He mailed me and told me he was in a bit of trouble and asked if I could help him out. I agreed and in return, he has promised me riches beyond belief. Of course, I'm not doing it for the money, but to help him, but it would be nice down the line, you know.
I sent him 5 million yen for starters, then another 3 million yen about a month back. He said he only needs a couple more payments and he will be able to pay for the transfer fees from a former dictator's bank account and he will return me $10 for every yen I sent him. I can't wait!

How can anyone get a visa to be a club tout? That's clearly not a job with a corresponding valid work visa. So if they're a problem and assuming they don't have proper visas, why don't they just deport them in droves?

If it's really that much of a problem, the cops can just pester them for their papers until they stop going outside to tout... I don't get why they don't just hire Japanese to do the job anyway. There's always a local willing to low-paying jobs... and most Japanese would be less repelled by a Japanese person than black guys.

One of the routes Nigerians use to get a visa is to pretend to have plans to attend a conference in Japan, and then ask the organizers for a letter of recommendation. Immigration officers are well aware of this, and weed them out rigorously.

Just wonder whether the illegal guys will become legal by marrying a Japanese. I recall the news a year or so ago of some illegal (not Nigerian) who had a J-marriage, but still got kicked out (literally, and died as a result).

Few weeks ago in Shibuya I saw a big scuffle between Nigerians and Cops. Some idiot Nigerian parked his car in the middle of the crowded sidewalk (was a friday or saturday night) in front of that one club you always see them hanging out in front of. Anyhow, passing by in a car, the cops, rather uncharacteristically rudely yelled at them to move the car. Can't remember the exact wording but all the keigo went out the window and it was crazy..all the J-people in the area were shocked) then the patrol car stopped and the next thing you know, there were about 8 cops screaming at the Nigerians. (who were grabbing the cops by their shoulders saying "Da-joe-boo-daio") As soon as more cops showed up, the scuffle broke out and I swept my lemur back to my place, not wanting to be a random FG pulled in for questioning.

Cops in charge are probably paid to leave em alone. Never understood the appeal of big black doods from Africa trying to gain your trust by approaching/following you on the street...almost been a few fights with them myself when they decided to grab my arm or when one guy rubbed my belly and asked "wat iz dis? a bay beeeee?" (I had just pigged out at a buffet and it was showing) My only guess is why they use those guys is their persistence or maybe they are the owners of where they are trying to drag you to.
