Seoul man enraged at being wrongfully enshrined among war criminals in Japan

By Oh Seok-min
SEOUL, July 22 (Yonhap) -- The bizarre saga of an elderly South Korean man counted mistakenly as Japanese war dead and enshrined at a controversial memorial reached the public on Thursday with news of a Tokyo court decision.

"I am neither a war criminal, nor a dead man," Kim Hui-jong, 86, told Yonhap News Agency on Friday, referring to the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo, a monument that counted him among millions of fallen Japanese, including Class-A war criminals.

And here's the WTF moment:

A Tokyo court on Thursday dismissed Kim's five-year legal battle to have his name removed from the nameplate at the shrine, saying "it was an unavoidable mix-up by the shrine, and does not infringe upon his human rights and moral interests."

The man is not dead yet you assholes! Remove his name!

The f-up is sad, but what's sadder is that a lot of people really give a shit about it, and his name being there can have a negative affect on him through the eyes of others.
I broke a mirror this morning, which means I should be getting 7 years of bad luck - but my lawyer says he can get me 5.

All BS aside, they should remove his name. Doubt it really caused him any harm but obviously not good for him to be on there, and not good for the shrine for to be there. (credibility?) Wonder how many other "unavoidable mix-ups" there are on there.

It's so fucking weird that the shrine would even want to keep someone's name on there who (a) isn't dead and (b) wants nothing to do with them. I would think that's disrespectful to the those who are enshrined there and their families who are proud of that fact.

reminds me of when they actually went and tried to confirm how many centenarians were still alive... with one being on record as 18x years old? WTF
