Iraira, as usual, you are missing the point of Jack's postings! It is obvious that since he has had more than his share of Japanese Koreans (does that mean one? I not sure of how many he was allowed for his share), he has expertise on the topic. He is well aware of the important things such as North Korea is located North of South Korea and also forced labor issues. He must be a union man because of his concern for labor. I'm sure being so knowledgeable on the issues, he was purposely neglecting to note that the large influx of Koreans came into play when Kato Kiyomasa brought back members of the Korean Royal family and an extremely large number of their retainers who chose, i repeat chose, to live in the vicinity of Kumamoto castle, thus establishing the first major presence of Koreans in four season land. This was a result of negotiations between the two countries. These people were not prisoners, nor were they forced laborers. This should be pointed out to Jack in his next history lesson, so that he can begin crusading for the expulsion of the entire Western half of Kyushu and any out lying relatives. Since he doesn't like relatives either, he should nicely fit in with the deport the Emperor movement by those that complain about him having Korean bloodlines. North Korea can probably use the population boost.

I think you got me mixed up with the other fellow who was looking for sympathy because his fucking wife is Korean and thus his kids are half Korean. I thin he doesn't know Jack yet. He was giving me an exaggerated, biased and fictional lecture on history. Look, the only Koreans that I like are the ones I poke. I am very much into Korean chicks. On a more serious note, if you take an objective look at history, many of the ethnic Koreans voluntarily came over to Japan. And, quite a few prominent Koreans have indicated it as well. Comparatively speaking - both pre and post war, working in Japan was seen as a better economic opportunity than remaining in Korea. They probably did not anticipate the social discrimination (or discounted it in favor of perceived economic opportunity). However, that does not change the fact that they came over here voluntarily.

The North Korean Resident's Association especially however, feels it is in their strong interest to propagate the myth that they were all brought over forcibly. They specifically like using the false comparison to US slavery.

Aren't they pushing this to get status and reparation or some such benefits?

On a funny side note, North Koreans try to get into Thailand because Thailand has no problem repatriating them right the fuck out and over to South Korea...which is overwhelmed...quite the mess...
