Protestors Demonstrate Against Korean Shows on Fuji TV

Postby Mulboyne » Sun Aug 07, 2011 8:42 pm

[YT]IjGg49EhW0U[/YT]

Protesters gathered outside Fuji TV's headquarters in Odaiba to demonstrate against the broadcaster's focus on Korean programming. Nico Nico showed the scene live online and a J-Cast report (Japanese) estimates over 500 took part. The subject came alive recently when actor Sosuke Takaoka took to Twitter to complain about the relative lack of Japanese shows on TV. Some of his comments were deemed borderline racist and it was soon announced that he had left his management company. Many artists and performers have sided with Fuji but Takaoka has found a measure of support online. Today's demonstration seems to be an extension of that, against a backdrop of renewed friction over the ownership of Takeshima.

Would make for a great cage rasslin match: Korean-loving obasan vs Rightwing Rent-a-Crowd.

Having seen the way those old biddies go after a bargain or a seat on the train, I don't think the rightists have got much of a hope.

Indeed, if Japan ever does go to war with South Korea over Takeshiima, I reckon those old biddies would be worth thinking about as shock troops to launch an initial blitzkreig.

Been thinking of heading down to NHK and Fuji's offices myself for some time to protest about the crap that's on TV here.

Question is, will less Korean pap result in more Japanese programming? or, will they just import something else from the US? It's beyond imagination, but will they try to come up with something interesting rather than another wide show/cheap overly sentimental drama to replace this Korean stuff?

Borderline racist coming from most Japanese is pretty much outright racist to any reasonable person. Anyone got a copy of those tweets from that twat?

...and are we really surprised that there are "We Japanese" protesting Japanese TV not being "We Japanese" enough?

This is the product of me blogging and sending e-mails. I am one of the first to protest against Korean Broadcast being aired here. I have always been against it from the beginning and still stand by my actions. :bukkake:

I was curious actually myself why there were so many K-drama programs on daytime TV. I didn't think they were as popular as made out to be in the media.

If I see a Dentsu-produced "We Love Korea!!" music video leaked out onto YouTube, I'll know there's something behind the conspiracy theory.

The perfect template for them to start with (only 26 years ago!):

A major reason for Korean shows is because they are cheap. The stations can buy them in for less than it costs to commission a show themselves. With falling viewer numbers, that's a handy option to have when you want to keep a tighter control of budgets.

the damn sheep (looks like a cow) is a complete puss (not vagina...)
yuna just... has no skill of doing what she was doing like kotomi
eric and jenny are now saying stuff in japanese (more often) and jenny keeps making up stupid shit. eric is just... the puppet and does his part.. cant blame him much... just the token gaijin playing his part. bitch jenny needs to lay off the valumes...

very nice looking halfu BTW... just needs to change out of them funky cloaths

but no... lets protest about the korean programs cuase the japanese ones are complete shit and have gone downhill... looks like the koreans have tooken over more than cars... TV... cameras... cellphones...

...and Mulby in with a big hit.

Outsourcing TV shows...if they weren't mostly Korean, Japan could actually benefit quite a bit from this. Popping the Japan-universe bubble? Believable acting without the over dramatic drawn out BS? Unfortunately, Korean TV shows aren't much of an improvement of the Japanese ones though. It's just like the Japan-universe bubble is stuck to the Korea-universe bubble...

Exactly. Korea was hugely into J drama before they started pumping out their own. The formula is exactly the same.

Not really. After the war, South Korea banned all Japanese "cultural imports" - including films, TV & music - until partially lifting it in 1998. CDs and DVDs have only been fully legally available for sale since 2004.

With the volume of nationalism in Korea regarding anything Japanese or the lack of anything Japanese in the market, a little bit of protest is understandable. Commerce between Japan and Korea is one way towards Japan.

Mulby may be right about the ban but Ganma is spot on with the formula being the same. The general public may not have been exposed to J-this and J-that but the producers of K-this and K-that sure were...

On a tangent, J TV shows were certainly popular in Taiwan when I lived there some 13 years ago. Plenty of reruns of Gilgamesh Nights. :D :love2:

I think South Korea stopped being a military dictatorship only around the late 1980' (87 or 88 )... They still had ban for stuff like miniskirt (with nobody giving a flying fuck) until the 2000'...

Let see how much longer it will take for Japan...

It's a mutant pig-monkey. I'm getting in on the whole radiation mutation thing after seeing SDH's new avatar.

Here's an article on it:

Pig with monkey facePosted by David Pescovitz on Monday, Jul 28th at 9:59am
This piglet with a monkey face was reportedly born in the Chinese village of Fenzghang in the Xiping township. I feel badly for the cute little guy. From Ananova:
"It's hideous. No one will be willing to buy it, and it scares the family to even look at it!" (farmer Feng Changlin) told Oriental Today...

"But our son likes to play with it," (said his wife,) and he stopped us from getting rid of it. He even feeds it milk."

Mutant pig from China...not that I'm surprised but it seems like the radiation/pollution coverup in Japan will have to work harder if they want to keep up ]I think South Korea stopped being a military dictatorship only around the late 1980' (87 or 88 )... No miniskirts in Korea...why would anyone want to go there during that time? Dog meat yakiniku for stamina?

It is not racist. Personal bias? Yes! Japan. Personally, I get sick of seeing Korean programs being broadcasted here. This is not Korea, and the Japanese have every right to demand changes.

Dude...you're the one into the lactating babas, right? You should be memorizing script from these Korean shows, since they are such a hit with those same babas.
C'mon, keep your story straight, for once., it would make you look less trollish.

Lactating babas? Lactating mommas. Right. I won't charge you for the correction. At least no one can't say I was never breastfed, unlike you.

I happen to love drinking breast milk from Japanese women. I think it's a lot better than that stuff that comes out of a cow - something that was intended for an animal. I drink mother's milk and it's damn good if it comes from a Japanese momma whose diet is rich in high carbohydrates and complex amino acids - rice. Wouldn't know anything about the joys of momma's milk.

The Koreans are trying to steal Japanese women, and I won't tolerate it.

This is getting interesting. What are you going to do? Slap upside the head with your pacifier? Spit milk on 'em?

Wrong again. I was adopted, so I never sucked on the teet of the one who birthed me. Nice try, though.

Was going to start a new thread, but it seems there's one here. There was a demonstration today in Omotesando, and it seems like they've falled the Asian Rule #1 of communication, which is, don't use subtlety at all: spell out everything in case you're talking to an idiot.

I had my camera so got some photos I'll post later. Seems like there's better things to bitch about here than K-shit.
