Japan Inc. faces 'tectonic changes': analysts

http://www.france24.com/en/20120402-japan-inc-faces-tectonic-changes-analysts

Japanese companies are sclerotic and can't compete, blah, blah...your eyes glaze over with same tedious, tired old claptrap, and then you come to this paragraph:
"This deal indicates that the mindsets of Japanese enterprises are changing," said Mars Hsu, analyst at Grand Cathay Securities in Taipei.
Yes, there's a person walking the earth named Mars muhfuckin' Hsu!

-the "Art of War"? Sheeit, he's the God of War.

-Chinese have a way of giving themselves really odd English names sometimes, like Julian or Betty or Ringo, but this takes it to a whole new (Olympian) level

-Could there be a "Saturn" out there? A "Saturn Hsieh," for example? I won't rest until I find the answer!

Some of the best of the worst "English" names I've heard Chinese people take were Hanffy, Vivi and Diva. I also met a Korean guy who liked to go by Dandy and a Thai dude who went by Nut. In Nut's defense that was his Thai nickname and he didn't know any better.

"Uranus hung around in the first degrees of Aries for only about two months, before retrograding (moving backwards) into Pisces for another 8 months."

Not the google result I was looking for!

The rep I dealt with at Cathay Pacific a while back was called Cherry Chiu. One of the flight attendants was called Winsome but she wasn't very.

There was a Chinese guy in grad school I knew who chose "King" as his English name. King.

Normally the Chinese women I've met have chosen really frumpy names like Doris, Audrey, Sylvia... Their Chinese name would surely be better.

I can't believe I forgot this one. I had a landlord in the States called Dick Chow.

I don't have a Mars, but I do know an Ares, in Shanghai. Supposed to be more aggressive than Mars, at least in Greek mythology.

Most of them that I work with have boring English names, like Tony, Sammy, Alex, and Linda, Lydia, Karen, or Jackie.

So I can! And just in time for bed. Saturn Hsu, you rule. I mean, you rule. Just don't eat your kids, if you ever have any.

I doubt the subtlety of Roman mythology entered into his choice of names. Dollars to donuts he liked Mars Bars when he visited the states. Years ago, I travelled around Turkey with a HK girl named 'Blondie' which she chose after the name of her favorite singer.

after?
Never criticize anyone until you've walked several kilometres in their shoes.
Because

1. You're now several kilometres away; and

2. You've got their shoes.

Thank God I'm not a non-native English speaker and choose my name after something I like because otherwise people would be calling me "Goodshit" or "Wildfuck" or something else along those lines.
