Knifeman kills three in attack on Japanese tourists in Guam

The attack occurred when the man drove his car up a pavement near the Outrigger Guam Resort and rammed it into a convenience store, before jumping out and stabbing bystanders.
The Japanese foreign ministry said it had been informed of two fatalities and 11 injuries.
"At least 13 Japanese nationals were injured, of whom two people died," a ministry official said in Tokyo.
Guam police reported three deaths in total ...

Another report gives the suspect's name as Chad Ryan Desoto.

Word. In general it's tough to single out the Japanese media for focusing on their own people when something happens abroad since I think that's done pretty much everywhere. However, the quotes in that article were particularly bad.

Even as a kid I thought it was strange when news in the US would talk about American deaths as if they were somehow more tragic than all the other deaths. But I've never been one to take in pride in the fact that I just happened to be born in a particular place.

Actually no Walmart here just k-mart and it wasn't just Japanese attacked my co-workers niece was stabbed in the neck as well. I still don't think they have a motive yet beyond just just hurting people. I believe he made a statement about just wanting to hurt as many people as possible. As for the large number of Japanese looks like it was just them being unlucky since its not like he got out of the car and asked everyone he hit with it what race they were before doing it same with the stabbing wreaked his car then got out and started stabbing people wasn't asking their race then either.

One Egyptian was killed, Health Minister Mohamed Mostafa Hamed told Reuters, listing the other victims as tourists from Japan, China, France, Britain and Hungary. Earlier, officials had said all the dead were foreigners.

Carlina Charfauros, a spokeswoman for the Guam attorney general’s office, said that 21-year-old Chad Ryan DeSoto pleaded ‘not guilty’ during a hearing held earlier today, citing mental illness as defense. According to her, Superior Court Magistrate Judge Alberto Tolentino has ordered a psychiatric evaluation to be completed within 10 days. The next hearing was set for March 20.
