I live about 30 km from a JASDF airbase. Yesterday, quite a few jets were scrambled (I would say it was not just routine exercises as it was more than usual), and a few took off again earlier this morning too. AFAIK they haven't come back yet, so I'm guessing they went farther than just a quick look-see (don't ask me what jets they are as I don't know, and I have no idea of their range).
*Edit: just heard some more jets, so either they are coming back, or more are going...
