UPS power protection and battery backup for computers is fairly rare in Japan. The corporate rationale was that Tepco hadn't a system-wide blackout in 25 years and so battery backup was unnecessary. MANY/MOST companies will be losing data this summer.

Check your latest Tepco bill. There is now a daily interest charge for late payments. Time to have auto debits perhaps? Methinks cash flow issues?
