A 27-year-old man was arrested Thursday, after a video of an alleged assault went viral.
The video shows a man, who appears to be a tourist, falling to the ground after being punched in the face.
Rickson Ayin of Dededo was arrested on suspicion of assault and disorderly conduct, said Officer A.J. Balajadia, Guam Police Department spokesman. He was booked and released, Balajadia said.
The incident occurred late last month, Balajadia said.
"With zero tolerance on crimes against tourists and after viewing a video that was placed on YouTube, officers with the Tumon/Tamuning precinct aggressively investigated and located the suspect," he said.
The video shows one man confronting another man on a beach in East Agana Bay. The suspect tells the victim “don’t take off your clothes, small kids” before striking him on the side of the head, sending him to the ground.
A man off camera can be heard apologizing in Japanese, followed by "sorry," in English.
Not that it excuses the punch but I wonder if that Japanese dude had stripped down to change on the beach or if the guy just didn't like his tight bathing suit. My guess is the former since I can't imagine what he's wearing would be unusual on the beach in Guam.
