The media is conveniently leaving out the attack on his son story....the intellectual dishonesty that passes for "journalism" these days is disgusting.

I'm not sure if the security is being extra cautious about how they deal with crazies or they just failed to react but I'm pretty surprised the guy wasn't shot, run over, or at least decked and restrained until the police showed up. Me thinks the next one will not be so lucky.

They don't have dedicated transmitters/receivers for something like that...even the cellular emulator Starlink is capable of is barely good enough for a text message. Not to say that kind of specialized hardware won't eventually become an option.

You do bring up a good point though, rather than nefarious my guess is it becomes some sort of opt-in thing to aid with situations like that or kidnappings. With everyone recording the camera feeds like a 360° drive recorder, if some crime or something happens, they could send out alerts to drivers who were in the immediate area and ask permission to access the external camera feeds in some specific time interval. I imagine robotaxis would be opting in to something like this by default. (though you'd want to limit dystopian facial recognition surveillance and other such singled out tracking of people)

With no electricity, the gas stations aren't exactly going to be pumping any fuel for anyone. I suppose you can go full walking dead and start siphoning gas from your local jiji keitora. Either way, standstill traffic, EV or ICE, you usually kill the engine/power while you wait. Unless it's snowing or blisteringly hot of course...but neither are likely ahead of a hurricane evacuation.

Rear rolling shutter of the CyberTruck is supposed to have integrated solar in it good for 30-40km a day but logmahal will get solar as well as grid power at some point. I also have something like 350w of solar on my camping trailer and a good size battery storage system in that.

That being said, for now the hotel onsen I use on the way home has two 200v EV charging stalls. Might as well plug in while cleaning up for an hour.

First Cybertruck I get will likely be in the states though so I might ignore the 5-10year delayed RHD version and just pick up a Model Y in the meantime. I really enjoyed driving that thing....but I do miss the ride height of the Land Cruiser.
