First, that Thread Title deserves a round of applause, especially after the edit. :clap:

There were some great convict escape stories, including rowing 5000 Km and dressing up as a kangaroo (if only it hadn't been for those pesky kids starving guards). This is epic, thanks for posting it!

this is a typical sample of so-called 赤人(aka-jin, red people) or 赤蝦夷(aka-ezo, red barbarian), which mostly used to reffer to russian sailors at that time, though.

One of the most infamous incidents, was the escape attempt of one George “Billy” Hunt. Hunt disguised himself using a kangaroo hide and tried to flee...
