Speaking of alcohol:

Kirin Brewery Co. said Tuesday it will launch test sales on July 15 of a draft beer product contained in a self-cooling keg that does not need electricity or cooling devices.

Now how can I apply that technology to cool my apartment?

Simple, just by a keg of self-cooling Kirin and stuff it down there. I'm sure there's ample room

Starbucks Japan says not expanding into beer, wine
Reuters, 06.26.03, 12:32 AM ET

...One store in Kobe, western Japan is located in the same building as a theatre and had been asked to serve coffee before and after performances. That had eventually led to the serving of Seattle beer and wine.

"We have an agreement with this theatre and will honour that," Tsunoda said, adding that the coffee chain had turned down and would continue to turn down any requests to do something similar at other stores.

He also said that despite the spike in the Japanese unit's share price earlier this month, shareholder reaction at the company's general meeting had been very negative towards the idea of serving alcohol.

A similar experiment in the United States years ago flopped. Starbucks Japan shares were trading at around 12,660 yen on Thursday, down 2.24 percent.
They have pared gains since shooting as high as 15,550 on the alcohol reports two weeks ago but remain above the 11,000 to 12,000 range seen in the last few months.
